India's cut & polished diamond exports in May dips 17%; Rough imports too decrease by 18%
The overall gross export of Cut & Polished diamonds at $ 1723.17 mn in the month of MAY 2023 is showing a decline of 17.52% as compared to $ 2089.17 mn for the same period of the previous year, according to data published by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC).
The overall gross Imports of Cut & Polished diamonds at $ 86.11 mn in the month of MAY 2023 is showing a decline of 28.86% as compared to $ 121.04 mn for the same period of the previous year.
The overall gross Imports of Cut & Polished diamonds in DTA at $ 27.93 mn is showing a decline of 26.50% as compared to $ 38.01 mn for the same period in May 2022.
The overall gross Imports of Cut & Polished diamonds in SEZ at $ 58.18 mn is showing a decline of -29.93% as compared to $ 83.04 mn for the same period of May 2022.
Rough Diamonds
Rough diamond imports for the month of MAY 2023 show $1167.63 mn as against $ 1433.11 mn during the month of MAY 2022, indicating a decrease of 18.52 %.
Gross Imports of rough diamonds at $ 2611.50 mn
in APR 2023 - MAY 2023 have shown a decline of 4.82% compared with the imports at $ 2743.69 million for the previous year.
In volume terms, the gross Import of rough diamonds at 196.46 lakhs carats during APR 2023 - MAY 2023 has shown a growth of 19.94% compared with the imports at 163.79 lakhs carats during the previous year.
Polished Lab Grown Diamonds
Provisional gross export of Polished Lab Grown Diamonds for the period APR 2023 - MAY 2023 at $ 236.08 mn shows a decline of 27.46% over the comparative figure of $ 325.45 mn for the previous year.
