De Beers has announced a provisional rough diamond sales value of $450 million for the fifth sales cycle of 2023, compared to $657 million, a year earlier, according to Anglo American.
The diamond company realised $479 million in the fourth rough diamond sales of the year.
“Following the JCK Show, and with ongoing global macroeconomic challenges continuing to impact end-client sentiment, the diamond industry remains cautious heading into summer,” said De Beers chief executive Al Cook.
“Reflecting this, we saw demand for De Beers rough diamonds during the fifth sales cycle of the year slightly softer than in the fourth cycle.”
De Beers increased rough prices in its second sales cycle, having done the same at the beginning of the year.
