India's cut and polished export dips in June 2023 by 31.5%, rough import declines by 24.4%

According to the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India, the overall gross export of cut and polished diamonds at $1.38 bn in the month of June 2023 is showing a decline of 31.5% as compared to $2.02 bn for the same month of the previous year.

The overall gross imports of cut and polished diamonds at $120.51 mn in the month of June 2023 is showing a decline of 0.8% as compared to $121.48 mn for the same period of the previous year.

The gross imports of cut and polished diamonds in DTA at $34.24 mn are showing a decline of 28.1% compared to $47.66 mn for the same period of June 2022.

The gross imports of cut and polished diamonds in SEZ at $86.27mn is showing a growth of 16.9% as compared to $73.83 mn for the same period of June 2022.

For the period of Apr 2023 - Jun 2023, the overall gross exports of cut and polished diamonds at $4.43 bn is showing a decline of 29.4% as compared to $6.27 bn for the same period of the previous year.

The overall gross imports of cut and polished diamonds in three months at US$277.14 mn is showing a decline of 21.81% as compared to $354.44 mn for the same period of the previous year.

The gross imports of cut and polished diamonds in DTA at $92.65 mn are showing a decline of 19.7% compared to $115.34 mn for the same period of April 2022 – June 2022.

The overall gross imports of cut and polished diamonds in SEZ at US$184.49 mn is showing a decline of 22.84% as compared to $239.10 mn for the same period of April 2022 – June 2022.

Rough Diamonds

Gross imports of rough diamonds for the month of June 23 show a decline of 24.37% recording $1.37 bn as against $1.81 bn for the month of June 2022.

Rough diamond imports for the period of Apr-Jun 20 23 registered $3.98 bn as against $4.55 bn during the period Apr-Jun 2022, a decline of 12.5%.   

Polished Lab Grown Diamonds

Provisional gross export of Polished Lab Grown Diamonds for the period Apr 2023 - Jun 2023 at $333.81 mn shows a decline of 29.78% over the comparative figure of $475.36 mn for the previous year.
