Caledonia reports fatal accident at Blanket Mine

Caledonia Mining reports that an accident occurred at its Blanket gold mine in Zimbabwe on August 7, 2023, resulting in the death of one GMG employee.

GMG is a subcontractor of the mine.

It said the accident was related to the maintenance of trackless equipment.

“Further details cannot be released pending the outcome of an enquiry into this accident by the relevant authorities,” said Caledonia.

Caledonia produced 17,436 ounces during the second quarter of 2023, an increase of 8.7% from the 16,036 ounces produced during the first quarter.

In the first half of 2023, Blanket produced 33,472 ounces of gold, as opposed to 38,606 ounces in the first half of 2022.
