Gold mining companies operating in the Republic of Yakutia produced more than 15 tons of gold in the first half of 2023, which is 2.6% more than in the same period last year, as reported by RIA Novosti with a reference to the Ministry of Industry and Geology of the Republic.
Production growth was achieved mainly due to the activities of the Seligdar, Polyus Aldan and Neryungri-Metallik enterprises.
It is reported that this year, the Seligdar holding began construction of a new gold recovery plant at the Khvoynoye deposit for 3 million tons of ore per year.
Polyus Aldan (a subsidiary of Polyus PJSC) increased ore processing by several times due to the technical re-equipment of the Kuranakh gold recovery plant, the development of heap leaching technologies and the reconstruction of the tailings facility.
Neryungri-Metallik (Nordgold) continues to increase gold production at the Gross and Taborny deposits.
“Our republic is consistently among the top three regions in terms of gold production in Russia. Last year, we exceeded the previous milestone and mined a record 50 tons of gold, - said the Minister of Industry and Geology of Yakutia Maxim Tereshchenko. “In 2023, we plan to maintain the achieved level and defend our leading position [in terms of gold production] in the country.”
