Lucapa Diamond, which owns 40% of the Lulo mine in Angola and 70% of the Mothae mine in Lesotho, has appointed Nick Selby as its chief executive and managing director.
He was the interim chief executive since August when Stephen Wetherall resigned.
Selby, an extraction metallurgist, joined Lucapa as chief operating officer (COO) in October 2014 and was promoted to executive director of operations in September 2017.
He began his professional life at De Beers, where he served in a variety of technical roles for 19 years.
He joined Gem Diamonds in 2005 and was responsible for building diamond projects in nations including Angola, Australia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Central African Republic, Indonesia, Lesotho, and Botswana.
