ALROSA named a 200-carat diamond in honor of JSC Anabar Diamonds

ALROSA has made a decision to name a large gem-quality diamond mined in July 2022 “25 years of JSC Anabar Diamonds”.

According to the press service of Anabar Diamonds, a subsidiary of ALROSA, with this decision its parent company perpetuated the outstanding contribution of its employees and veterans to the overall achievements of the biggest diamond miner in Russia.

The rough diamond weighs 217.99 carats and has very high color and quality characteristics. It was mined in July 2022 at the famous Ebelyakh alluvial deposit in the Anabarsky ulus of Western Yakutia.

“This year, our subsidiary Anabar Diamonds celebrates its quarter-century anniversary. Over these years, it has become one of the leading subsidiaries of the ALROSA group, and a recognized world leader in alluvial diamond mining. Not only ALROSA but the whole of Yakutia is proud of it. I would like to thank the entire team, management and veterans of Anabar Diamonds for their honest and dedicated work. The fact that one of our largest and most beautiful diamonds mined in recent years is named in honor of the company’s 25th anniversary underscores the brilliant success it has achieved,” said ALROSA's CEO Pavel Marinychev.

The deposits developed by the company are famous for exceptionally rare and large colored diamonds that have gained worldwide fame. In September 2023, Anabar Diamonds unearthed the largest gem quality diamond in Russia in over 10 years, weighing 390.7 carats. It was produced at the Mayat diamond mine.
