Surat Diamond Bourse draws International attention as trading commences

On November 21, 2023, the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) welcomed approximately 150 diamond buyers from various corners of the country, while an astounding turnout of over 20,000 individuals visited the premises on its maiden day of operation, as per theblunttimes.in report.

As per the report, about 25 prominent international diamond buyers hailing from the United States, Dubai, Turkey, and Hong Kong graced the SDB for trading activities, marking the initiation of operations for 135 diamond offices within the bourse.

The initiation of trading activities saw 135 diamond dealers, including 26 from Mumbai, formally commence their operations within the Surat Diamond Bourse starting November 21.

Traders within the SDB extended invitations to buyers from different Indian states and several countries worldwide, leveraging the inauguration of their offices in the bourse to initiate trade and forge international connections.

Vallabh Lakhani, Chairman of SDB, along with SDB President Nagji Sakaria and Media Committee Convener Dinesh Navadia, expressed their delight at witnessing the long-awaited day finally arrive. The culmination of this vibrant beginning is anticipated to lead to even greater heights, with the imminent inauguration of the Surat Diamond Bourse scheduled for December 17 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The successful initiation of trading operations at the Surat Diamond Bourse, coupled with the impending formal inauguration, marks a pivotal milestone in the city’s aspirations to emerge as a hub of international diamond trading.

“The collective excitement and robust engagement witnessed on the first day serve as a testament to the promising future envisioned for the SDB, fostering increased global participation and trade opportunities within the diamond industry” said Dinesh Navadia.
