Angola, US Geological Survey agree to cooperate in geoscience

28 november 2023

A memorandum of cooperation has been agreed upon between the Angolan government and USGS for geoscience collaboration.

The agreement, which was signed Thursday in Luanda during the second edition of the Angola Mining Conference, seeks to lay the groundwork for cooperation in the technical-scientific domains of geosciences through the promotion of exchanges and collaboration.

The US Ambassador to Angola, Tulinabo Mushingi, represented the USGS, while Jose Manuel represented the Geological Institute of Angola.

The deal, according to Ambassador Mushingi, signals an expansion of bilateral collaboration between his nation and Angola.

He stated that they would help Angola become a distinguished mineral supplier.

“What we intend to see is that, with this collaboration in the sphere of geosciences, after having a map that shows where the mineral resources are, it is possible to benefit from these resources and attract more private investments,” said Ambassador Mushingi.
