Lucapa to auction four ‘spectacular’ special Lulo diamonds

29 november 2023

Lucapa Diamond will auction four “spectacular” special diamonds from its 40%-owned Lulo alluvial mine in Angola next week.

Angolan national diamond trading company, SODIAM, will conduct the online auction, which will end on December 8.

Lucapa’s 235-carat stone would be the biggest diamond to be sold at the auction.

Other diamonds from the mine that will go under the hammer weigh 41 carats, 123 carats, and 208 carats.

SODIAM recently said the auction will consist of a total of 20 diamonds weighing more than 10.80 carats.

Apart from Lulo, 13 stones will come from Uari, two from Somiluana, and one from Chitotolo.

Lucapa’s Lulo generated $10.7 million from four stones auctioned at the May online rough diamond tender.

The revenue realised from the Lulo stones accounted for almost half of the $21.7 million generated from the tender.
