Work resumed at the Udachny underground mine after the accident

PJSC ALROSA has resumed work at the Udachny underground mine in the Republic of Yakutia after an accident involving a methane outburst on Monday. Currently, the concentration of combustible gases is within safe values, the press service of ALROSA reported.

A state commission under the leadership of Rostechnadzor continues to work at the mine.

On November 26-27, as a result of methane outburst at the Udachny underground mine at the depth of 580 meters, five people were injured. Three people were killed, two are in critical condition.

A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the accident on violation of industrial safety requirements of hazardous production facilities.

The Udachny mine is the largest mining project of ALROSA, located in the town of Udachny in the Mirny district in the north of Yakutia. The total depth of the mine is 640 meters.
