Russia’s innovative jewelry design exhibition held in Bangkok

26 december 2023

The Inspiration from Russia exhibition of jewelry pieces by Viktor Moiseikin, a successful jeweler and innovative designer from Yekaterinburg, was held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. It was organized by the Russian Embassy in Thailand with a display of over 60 works of jewelry items made from the Ural gems, as well as an immersive presentation of the emerald-studded and diamond jewelry.

The Russian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand Evgeniy Tomikhin, minister-counsels of the Russian Embassy Oleg Shamanov and Andrey Dmitrichenko, deputy director of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT) Sitthichai Parinyanusorn, vice-President of the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) Chomphol Phornchindrarak, business representatives, journalists and editors of business and fashion magazines took part in the ceremonial opening of the exhibition that became a landmark cultural event.

Thailand is considered the world center for colored gemstones and jewelry. Viktor Moiseikin successfully demonstrated the best works of modern jewelry art created in Russia based on technology and conceptuality. The acquaintance with the Russian jewelry art began with the presentation of the innovative setting Waltzing Radiance. The idea of technology lies in a special design based on the principle of free rotation of a gemstone open to a stream of light. The piece of art The Bird of Happiness and the jewelry collection The Feather of a Firebird inspired by the image of a magical bird from the Russian fairy tales were shown to the participants of the exhibition and visitors. In 2017, the jewelry pieces from this collection won the International Jewelery Design Excellent Award in Hong Kong.

According to Viktor Moiseikin, the attention to the Russian art is not declining: “Most of the visitors came with the sole purpose to get to know as much as possible about it.”

The art works and the interior items cut in stone, including a jade tea set in the shape of a blooming lotus, a series of elegant miniatures looking like beautiful flowers, and wild animals created from famous Ural gems made the significant part of the exhibition. The attention of the visitors was drawn to the dolerite chess set decorated with gold ornaments reproduced from a 16th-century book The Apostle (the history of book printing in Russia began with it), as well as the Easter composition The Basket with Lilies of the Valley made of jade and pearls.

The visitors highly appreciated all of the presented art pieces, including their artistic merits, the quality of the intricate color palettes, and the unique technology.
