JSC Severalmaz, a subsidiary of the diamond mining company ALROSA operating in the Arkhangelsk region, announced that a large rough diamond unearthed in August 2023 was named the “Russian North”.
The weight of the stone mined at the M.V. Lomonosov deposit last summer is 54.8 carats.
“The Russian North is a special historical, cultural and ethnographic region of Russia. The “Russian North” usually means a vast territory in the north of the European part of the country, including the lands of the Vologda, Arkhangelsk, Murmansk regions, the Republics of Karelia and Komi. The Arkhangelsk region’s belonging to the “Russian North” is officially enshrined in the region’s charter,” Severalmaz press service reported.
This diamond has become the company’s third signature named stone. The first was named “Belomorye”, and the second - “30 years of Severalmaz”.
