West African Resources (WAF) has reported the death of a contractor at its Kiaka Gold Project in Burkina Faso.
It said no other person was injured in the accident.
“WAF and the Kiaka safety team are working with the relevant authorities and the contracting companies involved to investigate the accident,” it said.
“We are also offering support to the family. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family and those close to our colleague during this difficult time.”
WAF is the region’s emerging mid-tier gold producer, targeting an annual output of more than 400,000 ounces by 2025 from its Sanbrado gold operations and Kiaka.
