On the last day of January, Russia traditionally celebrates the Jeweler's Day, and this date is not accidental: it is in January that jewelers register their hallmarks.
The decision to establish this professional holiday was made in 2008 at an industry festival in Tashkent: the idea was proposed by the famous artist and jewelry maker Mikhail Kutovoy.
There is however a World Jewelry Day already which is celebrated on March 13: jewelers from different countries hold master classes and organize presentations of new collections.
On January 31, Russian jewelers were congratulated on their national holiday at the Ministry of Finance on Ilyinka street in Moscow.
At the solemn award ceremony, Deputy Minister of Finance Alexey Moiseev presented medals “For hard work and art achievements” to outstanding representatives of Russian jewelry industry.
Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Anton Siluanov directed an exhibition of jewelry manufacturing, while the head of the Foundation for the Development of the Art Industry and Jewelry Art Galina Ananyina provided support for an exhibition of the works of contemporary masters.
A documentary movie “New Faberges” was also presented to the public at the Ministry of Finance's event.
