At the January 2024 Sotheby's Hong Kong jewellery auction, a sapphire and diamond ring sold for$357,226 (HKD 2.8 million).
The figure is well above its upper presale price. The ring, which is studded with a cushion-shaped, 17.50-carat, royal-blue Burmese sapphire is surrounded by marquise-cut diamonds.
Totally, the Hong Kong January 31 auction brought in $6.3 million (HKD 48.9 million) for Sotheby's. Yellow diamonds sold well at the auction. Well-known design houses did well, including Jewels by Graff, Cartier, Buccellati, and Van Cleef & Arpels.
Sotheby’s also sold several diamonds, as well as both green and lavender jadeite pieces.
