Gold bars and silver coins have been put into circulation in Tajikistan, as reported by Sputnik Tajikistan news agency.
Ingots weighing 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 grams can be bought using national currency by individuals and legal entities.
"This was done to regulate cash in market transactions and prevent dollarization," said Navruz Aliyev, a representative of the National Bank.
According to him, gold bars and silver coins are minted according to international standards and "have no restrictions on purchase."
The sale price of such gold products is published daily on the official website of the National Bank of the Republic in accordance with the price list of the London Precious Metals Market Association at the exchange rate of somoni.
