Almost 1,000 social projects supported by Norilsk Nickel over 10 years

26 february 2024

Norilsk Nickel's charity program - the World of New Opportunities – celebrates its tenth anniversary in February. The company united all its charitable initiatives under a single brand on February 17, 2014.

The World of New Opportunities program, which has received interregional status, is aimed at creating favorable conditions and opportunities for the sustainable development of the territories of Norilsk Nickel's presence (Chita and Gazimuro-Zavodsky district, Monchegorsk city and Pechengsky district, Norilsk city and Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets district).

The main components of the program are a grant competition for social projects, comprehensive activities for the development of scientific and technical creativity and a program to support social entrepreneurship.

In Norilsk and Taimyr, the company primarily focused on projects aimed at solving the most pressing problems of the region due to the city-forming status of the company. This includes preserving the traditional way of life and folk crafts of the indigenous peoples of Taimyr.

Over the past ten years, a total of 3,613 applications have been received for the competition of social projects of the World of New Opportunities program, of which 967 projects worth over one billion rubles have been supported by Norilsk Nickel.

Moreover, 2,000 applications were received from the city of Norilsk and the Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets municipal district, of which 602 projects worth about 660 million rubles were supported and implemented.

The Norilsk Nickel charity program, covering education, culture, volunteerism, entrepreneurship, sports and ecology, is open to all non-profit organizations in the regions where the company operates.
