Unicorn mulls expansion of its exploration focus to Africa

03 april 2024

Unicorn Mineral Resources, an Irish-based mineral exploration and development company, says its board has unanimously backed a proposal by executive director Jason Brewer to expand the company's scope.

The company plans to explore advanced and near-term zinc, lead, copper, and silver projects in East and Southern Africa.

Mining Weekly reports that when Brewer was appointed in December 2023, it was highlighted that his extensive experience and industry connections, especially in Africa, would give the company access to new opportunities for growth and improvement in its mineral rights and licences.

In addition to Unicorn's ongoing exploration plans and activities in the Irish Midlands Orefield, the executive management team has been conducting initial technical and legal due diligence review work on a few promising base metal exploration and development projects in East and Southern Africa.

The board believes that making strategic investments in mine development and production opportunities that can be quickly advanced to production has the potential to greatly increase shareholder value.
