Kavango Resources has released preliminary interpretation results for geophysical survey data on its property in Botswana's Kalahari Copper Belt (KCB), which suggests that basin margins hold potential for copper and silver mineralisation.
Distinct fold hinge targets were identified in the D'Kar Formation (DKF) that align with preliminary AEM targets, according to Mining Weekly.
Kavango said that fold hinges on the KCB have been linked to mineralisation in other areas, like Sandfire Resources' Motheo mine.
It said that the updated geological interpretation is backed by recent regional mapping traverses, which have identified sub cropping units within the lower DKF.
This stratigraphic unit is the target for mineralisation.
Groundbreaking drilling conducted by ENRG, which Kavango acquired a 90% interest in six licences from in 2023, has provided solid evidence of the presence of lower DKF in the recently identified fold structures.
“We’re quietly confident our KCB exploration programme is going to deliver,” said company chief executive Ben Turney.
