Norilsk Nickel receives the Leaders of Responsible Business Award

Norilsk Nickel became the 1st degree laureate of the first national Leaders of Responsible Business Award. The awarding ceremony was held at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) congress.

Leaders of business were assessed on a comprehensive basis of a several key indicators: economic, environmental and social. In addition, such company activities as contribution to solving socially significant problems and using the example of specific corporate programs were also taken into account.

Three programs presented by Norilsk Nickel were highly appreciated by the jury. Among them are the program for the socio-economic development of Norilsk, the ecological and climate change strategy, and the program for the development of engineering potential.

“At Norilsk Nickel, we consider socially sustainable development to be part of the company’s DNA. That is why the largest environmental project in Russia, the Sulfur Program, is being implemented in Norilsk, the city is being actively renovated, and many other social initiatives are underway. I hope that everything we manage to do in the next ten years will influence the standards of socially sustainable development in our country and provide good guidelines for everyone who wants to follow our example,” said Norilsk Nickel Senior Vice President Larisa Zelkova, who received an award.

A total of 44 companies applied to participate in the award in 2024, and 14 of them were among the finalists based on the total score.
