Russian PM oversees new digital products by Norilsk Nickel and Severstal

21 may 2024

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin visited the presentation of the Metallurgy industrial competence center (ICC), where he got acquainted with the development of digital products by Norilsk Nickel and Severstal.

The head of Russian government was shown a model of the end-to-end process - from ore mining to the release of finished metallurgical products. The companies showcased key production processes that use domestic solutions in development to ensure the technological independence of the industry.

In particular, Norilsk Nickel is developing integrated digital products in such areas as geological modeling, planning and control of mining operations. A digital “twin” of the mining process is created within an integrated data architecture starting from ore body modelling to controlling the movement of equipment and people.

The uniqueness of the product lies in the unity of the architecture and digital data model, which reduces the time required for changes and adjustments to the production process.

The ICCs are essentially industry communities of the largest customers interested in replacing foreign software products and solutions with Russian analogues. The primary task of ICCs is to formulate an industry request to Russian IT companies to develop software and replace products and solutions from Western companies which exited the domestic market.

According to Mishustin, industrial competence centers will get support from the state, but their main work should be based on market relations.
