Bezant Resources has finalised the chain of contractor services that will comprise the Hope and Gorob mining operation, according to an update on the copper/gold project in Namibia by chairperson Colin Bird.
The primary contractors involved in future mining, processing plant building, and concentrate trucking have submitted letters of preparation.
Additionally, letters of intent and bids for funding have been received for an off-grid, hybrid renewable power supply for the project.
Although the mining licence is still pending, the company has made significant progress on all other technical aspects of the project, such as the finalisation of infrastructure, the final designs of the mine, and the pre-concentrator.
It has also progressed in the audit and cost of an existing flotation plant that is within trucking distance of Hope and Gorob to process pre-concentrate from the new mine and in the adoption of a renewable-energy solution that takes advantage of existing environmental initiatives that are incorporated into the plant design.
An international engineering company has confirmed its readiness for the building and installation of the front-end crushing, ore sorting, and conveying circuits.
“In essence, all the components required to start a new project are in place and the Hope and Gorob has the makings of a pathfinder project for Bezant’s mining aspirations in Southern Africa,” Bird said.
“The project will be launched with a modest and readily achievable output of copper, together with a well-recognised potential to grow into a medium-scale operation, and, accordingly, we intend to divert cash flow into a significant exploration programme, the success of which will benefit all stakeholders.”
