Debswana reports fatality at Jwaneng mine

Debswana Diamond Company, a partnership between the Botswana government and De Beers, has reported a fatality as a result of an accident at its Jwaneng mine, which involved a crane and drill rig.

It said the accident, which occurred on Monday involved an employee of one of its contracting companies.

“It is with regret and deep sadness that we inform you of a tragic incident involving a crane and drill rig at our Jwaneng mine operations where an employee of one our business partners, was fatally injured on the morning of Monday, June 17, 2024,” said Debswana in a statement.

It said that investigations into the incident are already underway.
