Grizzly pockets $32.5mln from the latest auction of Zambia emeralds

23 july 2024

Grizzly Mining sold 1.3 million carats of emeralds recovered at its flagship mine in Zambia for $32.5 million in revenue from the auction of emeralds recovered at its flagship mine in Zambia.

The Dubai auction saw the company offer its latest mid- to high-grade rough emeralds, attracting 96 clients from Europe, Asia, and Africa.

It said that of the 142 lots offered for sale, 134 or 94.36%, were sold.

Customers were able to view the auction lots in person in Dubai.

However, the auction took place online.

“I am delighted to see such robust bidding for our stones, particularly for the 835-carat deep green, medium dark emerald, Bid 137, which saw stiff competition at the final auction,” said Grizzly chairperson Abdoulaye Ndiaye.

“I am pleased to announce another strong auction from Grizzly Mining, which was very well attended, underpinning the continuing demand for high-quality Zambian emeralds.”
