Kavango assays confirm Nara gold mineralised system

14 august 2024

Kavango Resources’ recent diamond drilling programme at the Nara Gold Exploration Project in Matabeleland, southern Zimbabwe has confirmed the presence of a gold mineralising system, highlighting anomalous gold zones underneath and directly associated with surface artisanal gold-producing structures.

The assay results confirm five out of six holes succeeded in intersecting the quartz vein shear structures worked by artisanal miners.

Higher gold grades of greater than 5 grammes per tonne (g/t) were returned from interpreted narrow pinched zones.

“Our first phase of exploration at the Nara Project confirms the potential for a large-scale gold-bearing system here,” said Kavango chief executive Ben Turney.

“We believe this is shaping up to become an underground opportunity for Kavango Mining to pursue. We are encouraged both by the grades we have encountered and widespread gold mineralisation.”

The company said it would now develop its understanding of these new zones before testing them with follow-up drilling.
