Russia extends deadline for hallmarking remaining stocks of jewelry items

03 september 2024

As a result of negotiations between the Russian Ministry of Finance and the Federal Assay Chamber (FAC), on the one hand, and representatives of the industry businesses, on the other, Russian Government has issued a decree on extending the deadline for hallmarking the remaining stocks of jewelry items.

The document published at the end of August states that "from September 1, 2025, two-dimensional bar codes must be applied directly to jewelry items made of precious metals and precious stones declared as remaining stocks."

The Federal Assay Chamber, meanwhile, reminds market participants of the need to maintain the pace and volume of jewelry items sent for hallmarking.

It is necessary to understand, the FAC emphasizes, that the more responsible and methodical the market's approach to hallmarking of stocks is during the year, the less risk there is of extending the hallmarking deadline set at September 1, 2025.
