Russia’s Amber Factory to continue supplying Amber Association

23 september 2024

JSC Kaliningrad Amber Factory, which was excluded from the register of industrial clusters by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade in May this year, has decided to continue supporting amber manufacturers.

"The Amber Factory has a transparent trade and sales policy. To ensure equal access of companies to raw materials, all mined raw amber is sold only through open competitive trading procedures," the plant's press service explains.

"The only exception was a direct contract with the [Amber] Association."

To date, the Association unites more than 40 amber processing and manufacturing companies. Under the terms of the latest agreement which concluded in March 2024, it received 20 tons of raw amber from Amber Factory. The first shipment of five tons was made in April. The next delivery in the same volume is scheduled for October. By the end of the year, the factory plans to ship the remaining 10 tons to the Association.

"Along with the exclusion from the register of industrial clusters and specialized organizations, the Association not only loses state support, but the authorities forfeit control over its operations," noted Mikhail Zatsepin, director of the Amber Factory.

"The Amber Factory will continue to work within the framework of the concluded agreement for the direct supply of amber to the Association. It is extremely important for us that local manufacturers do not lose the opportunity to develop the consolidated industry, and receive sufficient resources."
