ALROSA CEO discusses diamond mining prospects with Arkhangelsk governor

15 october 2024

ALROSA CEO Pavel Marinychev and governor of Arkhangelsk region Alexander Tsybulsky discussed diamond mining prospects in the region carried out by ALROSA's subsidiary, Severalmaz.

During the working visit, Alexander Tsybulsky and Pavel Marinychev summed up the company's performance for the first 9 months of the current year, paying special attention to the development of a new water treatment complex for the mining and processing plant, which the company is implementing jointly with the Northern (Arctic) Federal University (NArFU).

Another Severalmaz project will allow the company to move away from using liquid fuel as a primary energy source and switch to a centralized energy supply. This will reduce production costs and improve economic performance.

“Severalmaz was and remains one of the largest enterprises in the Arkhangelsk Region, and our cooperation with the region is truly systemic and comprehensive,” said Marinychev.

“We will invest in geological exploration, maintenance and development of our mining capacities in the Arkhangelsk region, increasing the efficiency and safety of production. Severalmaz will also continue to actively participate in solving socially significant problems in the region, implementing charitable initiatives and other projects important for Arkhangelsk."

For Alexander Tsybulsky, this is the first visit to the Lomonosov Mining and Processing Plant. The project is one of the five largest diamond deposits in Russia and includes six diamond kimberlite pipes.
