Angola is expected to complete the construction of a gold refinery in the capital, Luanda, by the end of the year, with the inauguration pencilled for the first half of 2025.
Construction of the gold refinery commenced in October 2022.
Angola Minas reports that key equipment for the refinery has already been secured, including units for refining, hallmarking, and laboratories.
It quoted mineral resources minister Diamantino Pedro Azevedo as saying that the gold refinery will help add value to the precious metal.
Angola is receiving technical assistance from Ghana, Portugal and Tanzania. The southern African country produced 1,324 ounces of gold in 2023.
