SA police cease unpolished diamonds in Northern Cape Province

The South African police arrested a 20-year-old man who was found in possession of suspected unpolished diamonds in Kleinzee on the west coast of Northern Cape Province.

The police could however not specify the quantity of the diamonds ceased.

They said in a statement that the diamonds were found in a procession of a South African citizen.

South Africa had been conducting a multi-discipline Operation “Vala Umgodi” (close the mines) to stop illegal mining in the country.

Several illegal miners were arrested pending trial.
