Société Générale has maintained a bullish outlook on gold amidst the global shift toward higher interest rates.
The group’s forecasts, issued following the Federal Reserve's rate hike, remain optimistic: the price of gold is projected to reach approximately $4,750 per ounce in the fourth quarter of 2026, $5,000 per ounce in the second quarter of 2027, and $5,250 per ounce by the third quarter of 2027.
The bank expects factors such as continued reserve diversification by central banks, a recovery in demand from exchange-traded funds (ETFs), a subsequent decline in real interest rates, and a potential weakening of the dollar to continue supporting the price of gold, even as borrowing costs remain high.
