Russia’s average annual gold production amounted to 430 to 480 tonnes over the past five years, TASS reported with a reference to Oleg Kazanov, head of the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use (Rosnedra).
"We are adding significantly more gold reserves to the state balance sheet than we are depleting... [Production] over the last five-year period has varied between 430 and 480 tonnes per year," the official stated.
According to Kazanov, two-thirds of the mined gold is recorded as an actual output; not all metal reaches the refining stage due to "losses."
Meanwhile, the annual increase in the precious metal's reserves is estimated at 700 - 800 tonnes. In 2025, according to updated figures cited by Kazanov, the increase in balance-sheet reserves amounted to 712 tonnes.
"Our annual reserve additions placed on the state balance sheet vary significantly, but the typical figure is somewhere around 700 - 800 tonnes per year," he explained.
The head of Rosnedra noted that the bulk of reserve growth is currently occurring within the existing deposits, while reserve additions from newly registered projects account for approximately one-fifth of the total volume.
