In 2026, Russian companies will increase their investment in the exploration of platinum group metals (PGM) by 17%, with the total reaching nearly 2 billion rubles ($23 million), the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reported.
"Platinum-group metals are highly liquid assets, which is why businesses are actively investing in their exploration. In 2025, such investments amounted to 1.684 billion rubles (over $20 million), and 1.971 billion rubles (over $23 million) is planned for 2026," the ministry’s press service stated.
No federal budget funds are being allocated for PGM exploration, as the focus remains on raw materials that are in short supply, RIA Novosti reports.
