Louay al-Zahid, the owner of Al-Malaka jewelry shops in the Syrian capital Damascus, told al-monitor.com that diamond prices have fallen for a second week in a row in the Damascus markets, reaching 10% below the previous prices. Zahid said that his stores across the capital serve about 100 diamond buyers per day as the demand for diamonds in Damascus has increased dramatically.

DMCC hosted its flagship Dubai Diamond Conference (DDC) on 21, Feb, 2022, held under the theme “The Future of Diamonds”. In his opening remarks, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, DMCC, announced that the UAE reached the top spot globally as a rough diamond hub, trading over $22.8 bn worth of rough diamonds in 2021. The country’s polished segment continues to grow at pace, closing in on the current market leader.
Namibia ships rough diamonds worth $106mln to Antwerp – report

Namibia exported rough diamonds valued at more than $106 million to Antwerp, Belgium in 2020, according to local media reports. New Era reports that the country also shipped polished diamonds worth about $5.4 million to the European nation.
