The V Industry Forum-Dialogue "Nuclear Energy and Industry Safety Day" held in Sochi

The Fifth industry Forum-dialogue "Nuclear Energy and Industry Safety Day", organized by Rosatom State Corporation, was held on October 18-19, 2022 in Sochi.
"A person is the main element of the entire occupational safety and health system. Therefore, the most important thing is the contact between the employee and the line manager, who is deeply involved in security issues. The employee must trust the security system that protects him. We need to pay special attention to this," Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev said at the opening of the forum.
Tatiana Terentyeva, Deputy Director General for Personnel of Rosatom State Corporation, said that the work on the development of security in the industry is organized in three directions. Firstly, it is the improvement of the regulatory framework. The second direction is the development of a culture of safe behavior.
"And the third is mass information and involvement of employees. We have set the task to organize the work of the Security Leaders Club, develop the asset of security commissioners in the industry and conduct dialogues about security. We have placed a special emphasis on these events, because they allow us to form the industry foundation for safe behavior horizontally - not only in each division, but also throughout the industry," Terentyeva said.
Rosatom Inspector General Sergey Adamchik drew attention to the safety of non-production processes: "Almost half of accidents in the industry are caused by falling people on the territory and road accidents. Each case of injury is not only affected people, it is economic and image losses. And when we have too many violations at some facility, the question arises: how do we operate nuclear facilities, what kind of technologies do we have, how do people work."
Within the framework of the forum the results of industry work on improving safety were summed up and the causes of industrial injuries were discussed. The participants agreed that in order to approach zero injuries, it is necessary to pay special attention to the prevention of injuries, those prerequisites that lead to accidents.
A qualitative analysis to establish the root causes of accidents will allow us to get closer to zero injuries. It was noted that special attention should be paid to improving the quality of employee training, and to train (with the involvement of local security trainers and practice-oriented approaches) exactly those who really need it.
Special emphasis was placed on the evaluation of the implementation of a comprehensive program of measures for the prevention of occupational injuries in the industry, atomic-energy.ru reports.
