The rate of warming in Russia exceeds the global average by 2.5 times, and in the Russian Arctic zone - by 3.7 times, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation Sergey Anoprienko said.
According to him, the rate of temperature increase in all Arctic regions has increased significantly in the last 30 years, the temperature has risen by more than 4 degrees during this period.
"Warming is inevitably accompanied by a reduction in the area of sea ice: according to long-term observations, over the past 10 years, the area occupied by sea ice has decreased by more than three times," the Deputy minister said at the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-27) in Sharm el-Sheikh.
