A scientific and practical conference named "Permafrost soils in the Anthropocene" was held in Salekhard, which was attended by more than 150 specialists from Russia and China.
"A number of round tables and discussions were held at which experts discussed issues related to the study of permafrost soils in the polar regions. Special attention was paid to the study of processes and phenomena that can negatively affect the operation of engineering structures and communications," the press service of the Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District said in a statement.
The researchers issued recommendations to the district's authorities on the improvement and greening of cities in the Far North, which is especially important in view of the construction of the new "Rai-Iz" ski resort and the "Snowflake" international scientific base. Experts noted that the number of specialists willing to work in unique polar conditions will increase every year.
