As part of Norilsk Nickel's corporate program Clean Norilsk, demolishing work is being carried out at the sites of the Nadezhda and Medny Metallurgical Plants as well as in the area of cement production and the former gas rescue service on the Valkovsky Highway.
Since the beginning of summer, 22 buildings and structures of various purposes and small buildings have been dismantled there, and since the beginning of the year, a total of 39 different objects have been demolished.
Practically at all objects of the Clean Norilsk program to be dismantled, the reasons for demolition are the same – a change in the structure of the foundations, their deformation and, as a result, the destruction of the building itself.
The examination of industrial safety at Norilsk Nickel's production facilities establishes the causes of deformations, and if the degree of structural failure falls under the highest category, the structure is subject to demolition.
In addition, Norilsk Nickel is engaged in sanitary cleaning of the territory, the area of which this year amounted to about 300 thousand square meters in all districts.
The collected scrap metal from Norilsk is sent to Krasnoyarsk, Murmansk and Arkhangelsk. In total, in 2023, the company plans to export about 100 thousand tons of scrap from Taimyr, by September it had already shipped half of the planned volume.
By the end of the year, under the Clean Norilsk program, about 200 thousand square meters of territory will be cleaned and 10 more objects will be demolished, the press service of Norilsk Nickel reported.
