Norilsk Nickel implements a project to transform the safety culture

29 september 2023

Norilsk Nickel is implementing a project to transform the safety culture at Bear Creek, one of its iconic enterprises, together with Tactise specialists. It is designed to protect employees in the workplace as much as possible.

The Norilsk Processing Plant became the first enterprise of the Norilsk division of Norilsk Nickel, which not only studies the mechanisms of transformation of the safety culture, but also actively implements them.

At the very beginning of the program, the entire factory staff was trained. Using specific examples, together with the trainers, they analyzed and learned to identify risks and manage them. Literally in 2.5 months, about fifty "critical places" were identified where injuries were possible. More than half of all identified risks have already been eliminated.

Gradually, there is a transformation of the consciousness of workers – people began to think about how to secure their work themselves.

"We reward those who try to improve the culture of occupational safety. The scheme is as follows: if you discovered the risk to occupational safety, you get five thousand rubles. If you also suggested ways to solve the problem, you will get another 2,500 rubles. The total is already 7,500 rubles. Well, if you not only identified and proposed, but also directly participated in eliminating this risk, then it's another 10,000 rubles," said Rodion Golubyatnikov, head of the production control department at Bear Creek LLC.

The first four employees were awarded bonuses in May, and four more in June. Today, the team is increasingly participating in the program. In August, nine people received awards, the press service of Norilsk Nickel reported.
