The only brown bear has settled in the Arctic. The predator remained to live on Wrangel Island, the administration of the Wrangel Island Nature Reserve reported.
"The brown bear has appeared on the reserve's photo recorders in spring and in the first months of summer. The photos show that after hibernation, the bear is quite well-fed and in good physical shape," the message says.
The beast was first spotted in 2019. The specialists of the reserve managed to collect wool samples and find out with the help of genetic analysis that it is a male.
It is noted that male brown bears can roam long distances, unlike females who are tied to the territory.
