Bulk waste recycling has begun in Yamal

28 november 2023

An incinerator for recycling and burning construction waste was launched at the Gubkinsky town in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, TASS reported citing the press service of the regional government.

“At the city solid waste landfill, we launched a thermal recycling unit - an incinerator. It is designed for burning construction waste, including after the demolition of emergency housing,” the statement says.

Andrei Bandurko, the head of the Gubkinsky town, noted that this equipment will reduce the volume of waste disposed at the landfill and reduce the negative impact on the environment. The press service clarified that the ash is not hazardous to the environment and is subject to final dumping at the landfill, and flue gases are cleaned and released into the atmosphere after the pollutant content drops to standard parameters.

In 2022, equipment for the disposal of construction waste was purchased in the Nadymsky, Shuryshkarsky districts and Noyabrsk.
