As part of the 69th expedition to the Vostok station, Russian scientists took a sample of ice from the Arctic, which is 1.2 million years old.
The material was obtained from a 3,000-meter deep well drilling and delivered by the Akademik Fedorov vessel.
According to TASS, the research work will be carried out by scientists from the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institutes.
According to scientists, the study of the material will make it possible to examine the process of transition of atmospheric ice into lake ice.
