ALROSA presents its environmental protection program to be implemented until 2028

The Russian diamond mining company ALROSA has published a new Comprehensive Program for Environmental Protection and Environmental Safety to be implemented until 2028. As the company noted, this is one of its strategic documents in the field of environmental protection.

The comprehensive program includes 10 areas related to the careful and rational use of natural resources, minimizing environmental risks, preventing and reducing negative impacts on the environment in the regions of its presence.

Among the main areas of work are measures to protect atmospheric air and prevent climate change, wastewater treatment, protection and rehabilitation of land, surface and groundwater. Particular attention will be paid to the conservation of biodiversity and the protection of natural areas.

“The ALROSA program was formed on the basis of an environmental audit to assess environmental risks, including a retrospective analysis of primary accounting data, the results of industrial environmental control and monitoring, recommendations from the scientific community and expert organizations,” says Deputy Executive Director for Ecology and Work with Indigenous Peoples - Director of the ALROSA Environmental Center Polina Anisimova.
