The Northern Forum creates working groups on IT infrastructure and climate change in the Arctic

28 march 2024

The Northern Forum international organization has formed new working groups on climate change issues and the development of IT infrastructure, said the organization’s executive director Vladimir Vasiliev.

“Two new working groups are being created on issues of climate and IT. The core composition of the international expert group on climate change has been formed. It will be coordinated by Alexander Shestakov, the representative of Russia in the working group of the Arctic Council on the conservation of flora and fauna of the Arctic, and the director of the Arctic portal Halldor Johannsson (Iceland),” TASS quotes Vasiliev as saying.

Meanwhile, the working group has begun preparations for the UN climate conference COP29, which will be held in November in Baku. As Vasiliev noted, representatives of the Arctic regions from several countries may be invited as partners at the conference so that they can hold their sessions and events, joint round tables and negotiations.

A working group for the development of IT infrastructure has also been formed with representatives of the USA, Iceland, Russia, China and India.
