Minister for Development of the Far East and the Arctic of the Russian Federation Alexey Chekunkov named a number of key priorities for the regions’ development until 2030.
According to him, the ministry now faces the task of ensuring the further development of the Far East and the Arctic.
“The importance of these geostrategic regions has increased,” TASS quotes the minister as saying.
To realize the potential of the regions, it is planned to implement 38 master plans (22 in the Far East and 16 in the Arctic), build almost 1,000 new facilities, and also ensure the development of transport corridors - the Northern Sea Route and the Eastern Polygon.
Also among the goals of the ministry are the development of energy infrastructure, ensuring Russia's leadership in Arctic science and technologies for the development of the North, stimulating tourism through visa-free agreements with neighboring countries, and attracting investment.
