The autonomous institution Forests of Yamal and oil and gas companies plan to restore more than 4,000 hectares of forest and plant 3 million seedlings in 2024, the press service of the governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District reported.
The Forest Conservation regional program is based around tackling two main issues besides tree planting. Specialists will deal with the mineralization of soils on an area of almost 740 hectares and sowing seeds on 30 hectares. These will mainly be seeds of scots pine, the most common species for reforestation in Yamal, sever-press.ru reports.
