Volunteers of the Clean Arctic public environmental project eliminated an unauthorized landfill along the Usinsk-Kharyaga road in the Komi Republic, stretching for tens of kilometers, in just one day.
40 people came out to clean up: corporate volunteers, representatives of the Usinsk city Hall and eco-volunteers from other regions. On the first day of cleaning, about 30 tons of used tires were collected and sent for recycling.
Volunteers have been cleaning up unauthorized tire dumps in Usinsk for the third year in a row.
During the three seasons of the Clean Arctic project, about 6,000 people took part in cleaning the territory of the Komi Republic.
In total, they collected about 12,000 tons of waste, goarctic.ru reports.
