Fourth season of Clean Arctic federal project begins in Tiksi

28 august 2024

The start of the fourth season of the Clean Arctic federal project in Tiksi village was attended by the head of Yakutia Aisen Nikolaev, the head of the Clean Arctic project Andrey Nagibin and the head of the Bulunsky district Afanasy Androsov.

General cleanups under the Clean Arctic project have been taking place in Tiksi since 2021. Volunteers from all over Russia - Moscow city, as well as Moscow, Novgorod and Yaroslavl regions - are participating in it for the second year, ysia.ru reports. According to Aisen Nikolaev, this year, in addition to the village of Tiksi, the Clean Arctic will do cleanups in four more settlements of Yakutia.

"The Tiksi project, which began in 2021, takes place in Yakutia annually, expanding the geography of the event every year. We started the project in Tiksi alone, and now it is already being carried out in five settlements in the Arctic," Nikolaev said.

Throughout Russia, the Clean Arctic project is being implemented in nine regions of the Arctic zone. According to the head of the project Andrey Nagibin, the most active work is carried out in Yakutia.

"A lot of work is being done here. Now we have 6,000 volunteers. The competition is very strong, 40 people per spot. Each participant becomes an ambassador of the Clean Arctic project," Nagibin said.
