High-speed Internet to be provided to the Arctic regional centers of Yakutia

06 september 2024

The Government of Yakutia, VEB.RF and ArktikTelecom signed a cooperation agreement, according to which VEB.RF will join the project "Synergy of the Arctic", which is being implemented by the republic and the Ministry of Finance of Russia.

"Today's agreement will be an important stage in the largest infrastructure project, the implementation of which will give a tremendous boost to the economic growth of Arctic and hard–to-reach areas and will reduce the cost of Internet connection for the population by more than 100 times," said Deputy Prime Minister of Yakutia Anatoly Semenov.

The project provides for the provision of high-speed Internet to all Arctic regional centers of the region. By the end of 2027, it is planned to lay seven thousand km of fiber-optic communication lines to 86 settlements, which will allow more than 70 thousand residents of the Yakut Arctic to gain access to all digital products, services, state and municipal services, ysia.ru reports.
